Final TMDLs Approved by EPA

Honga River is located on Maryland’s Eastern Shore in Dorchester County, MD, and its restricted area, Back Creek, is located along its western shore.    Honga River (basin number 02-13-04-01) was first identified on the 1996 303(d) List submitted to U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) by the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) as impaired by nutrients, sediments, and fecal coliform.  On the 2004 303(d) List, the fecal coliform impairment was clarified with the identification of Back Creek as the specific area of impairment.   The document available below establishes a TMDL of fecal coliform for Back Creek.  The nutrient and sediment impairments within the Honga River basin will be addressed at a future date.
