
2012 Maryland Green Registry Leadership Award Winners to be announced June 5, 2012
The Maryland Green Registry Leadership Awards are presented to organizations that have shown a strong commitment to sustainable practices, measurable results, and continual improvement. Winners will be recognized at the Maryland Green Registry Annual Awards and Membership Meeting on Tuesday, June 5, 2012, 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the award-winning Robinson Nature Center in Columbia, MD. Join Lieutenant Governor Anthony Brown, MDE Secretary Robert Summers, and members of the Maryland Green Registry and Green Building Institute as we celebrate the accomplishments of all members. 2011 Annual Results
Maryland Green Registry members are asked to share at least one quantitative measurement as part of their online profile. The following results as reported by Registry members were achieved on an annual basis between 2010-2011:
- 740,000 lbs of hazardous waste reduced
- 6.7 million lbs of nonhazardous waste reduced
- 741 million lbs of non-hazardous waste recycled
- 3.3 million gallons of wastewater reduced
- 2.1 million gallons of fuel saved
- 2.4 million vehicle miles traveled (VMT) reduced
- 378 million kWh electricity saved
- 117.4 million gallons of water conserved
- 2.4 million metric tons carbon dioxide equivalent (MTCO2e) reduced
- $65 million saved!
