Maryland Smart Sites and Smart Growth     Maryland Smart Sites is your online source for information on publicly owned redevelopment opportunities across the state. Maryland Smart Sites aims to market these opportunities through the enhanced promotion of an array of existing state, local, and federal incentives. On Maryland Smart Sites, you will find properties that meet the needs of businesses and developers and support Maryland's Smart Growth efforts.   Established by the State Legislature in the 2001 Session, the Governor's Office of Smart Growth was created to provide a "one-stop" shop on Smart Growth.  Maryland's future depends on the State's ability to foster a better planned, more environmentally protective, more sustainable pattern of development for the decades to come. The Office of Smart Growth helps coordinate the activities of other agencies, provides education and information on Smart Growth to the public, and facilitates revitalization efforts in older cities and suburbs and the development of smart neighborhoods in new communities. Working in three specific areas, the Office of Smart Growth seeks to achieve the State's Smart Growth mandate.
