BALTIMORE, MD (February 5, 2007) – The Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) extended the comment period for new regulations governing the management of Coal Combustion Byproducts (CCBs).

“MDE recognizes the desires of stakeholders, for additional time to comment on the proposed coal combustion byproduct regulations,” said MDE Assistant Secretary Stephen Pattison during a public hearing today. “To give all stakeholders time for additional input, MDE will also extend the formal comment period on the regulations to February 26, 2008. Written comments will be accepted until the close of business on that date.”
