Media Advisory: Officials to Celebrate Grand Opening for Town of Easton Wastewater Treatment Facility Upgrade

Maryland Department of the Environment Secretary Shari T. Wilson will join Town of Easton Mayor Robert C. Willey, Easton Utilities CEO Hugh E. Grunden, state and local elected officials and community leaders for a dedication ceremony at the Town of Easton’s Wastewater Treatment Facility.

What

Secretary Wilson will make brief remarks about the Bay Restoration Fund and the range of activities geared toward restoring the Chesapeake Bay then participate in dedication ceremony for the new the Easton Wastewater Treatment Facility. The plant now includes enhanced nutrient reduction technology that dramatically reduces the level of nitrogen and phosphorus being discharged into the Chesapeake from that region. Excess nutrients, like nitrogen and phosphorus, lead to degraded water quality, which negatively impact the ecology of the Bay and its tributaries. Anyone interested in the preservation and restoration of the Bay is invited to attend.

From Rt. 50 (either direction) turn east onto MD 331/Dover Road, travel 0.4 miles. Turn right onto Chilcutt Road, travel 1.4 miles. Turn right onto Dover Neck Road, travel 0.2 miles. Turn left onto N. Dover Road, travel 1.3 miles. The facility is at the end of the road on the right.
