What

MDE Secretary Shari T. Wilson, Newton Marasco Foundation President Amy Marasco and the Maryland State Department of Education’s Rebecca Bell will present awards to the winners of the Green Focus Photography Contest. The Green Focus Awards provide high school students with an opportunity to combine a love of photography with the environment. The awards use the art of photography to raise community awareness and educate our nation’s youth and their families about the ethos of environmental stewardship. Winning photos in each of four categories: Water (Oceans, Rivers, Lakes, Streams, etc.) Forest or Mountains, Fields or Countryside and a Black and White Photo (of any nature scene) will be announced along with the Grand Prize.

These photos will be judged upon originality, composition, portrayal of theme, and the impact or message.

The effort also complements Maryland’s commitment to promoting environmental education as embodied in the Chesapeake Bay 2000 Agreement.
