BALTIMORE, MD (April 16, 2008 – On February 6, 2008, a citizen expressed concerns with the operation of the wastewater facility for the Town of Sudlersville in Queen Anne’s County to the Maryland Department of the Environment during a public hearing on the renewal of the permit for the facility. These concerns were then raised at a meeting of the Queen Anne’s County Commission on February 18, 2008.
After a thorough investigation, MDE concluded that there were no violations. However, MDE requested operational changes to address the citizen’s concerns. The recommendations include:
In addition, in light of specific concerns raised about the lagoon levels, MDE requested that MES continue to read the lagoon levels and place the results on their Monthly Operating Reports, (MORs) the Sudlersville Wastewater Treatment Plant submits these to MDE monthly.
