BALTIMORE, MD (September 14, 2000) – Business owners, managers, contractors, and others interested in creating a cleaner, healthier environment while adopting money-saving pollution prevention strategies are invited to attend a Sept. 22 lunchtime seminar and expo being held at the Best Western Hotel and Conference Center in Baltimore from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

"The ‘Cost Reduction through Pollution Prevention Seminar and Expo’ is designed to give businesses of every size and type the information and tools they need to begin implementing cost-cutting pollution prevention (P2) projects at their facilities," said state pollution prevention coordinator Laura Armstrong, of the Maryland Department of the Environment. "Seminar attendees will hear proven success stories from area businesses and receive a new workbook outlining more than 30 pollution prevention strategies. They’ll also learn about existing programs that Maryland businesses can turn to for technical and financial assistance in implementing their projects."

Area companies such as Sweetheart Cup, the Constellation Energy Group and the National Aquarium in Baltimore will share their experiences and the cost savings they achieved through energy efficiency, sustainable business landscapes, and P2 planning.
