Performance Partnership Agreement
A recently signed Performance Partnership Agreement through federal fiscal year 2006, commits the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to increased cooperation on a range of issues such as wetlands, underground storage tanks, and environmental benefits districts.

Working to Protect the Bay
The main goal of the newly re-proposed Maryland water quality standards for the Chesapeake Bay is to set realistic, protective, and scientifically defensible criteria to adequately manage and protect the Bay from effects of nutrient pollution and sedimentation.

K&L Sets a High Standard, Pledges to Cut Pollutants

MDE and U.S. EPA Region III recognized K&L Microwave as the first company in Maryland to join the voluntary National Partnership for Environmental Priorities (NPEP). NPEP is a partnership under the Resource Conservation Challenge, a national campaign that encourages businesses to partner with environmental agencies and the public to forge solutions for today’s environmental concerns.

Car wash fundraiser season is in full swing. While the splashing and hard work of kids and community volunteers so popular on fairweather roadsides is fun, they can be detrimental to the environment if runoff is not properly managed.

Monitoring Interstate Pollutant Transport From The Western Maryland Piney Run Site
MDE's Air Quality Monitoring and Planning Program deployed a new air monitoring site in 2004 to track the impact of interstate pollutant transport on air quality in Maryland. The Piney Run site will provide a continuous time series of air quality data.
