The Governor's Flood Mitigation Task Force was created on October 7, 1996 in response to severe flooding events that occurred in Allegany, Frederick, Garrett, and Washington Counties. The Task Force developed recommendations to minimize or eliminate future flooding possibilities in that region. The initial task force report was completed on January 31, 1997. The Task Force continues to meet on a semi-annual basis to be updated on the progress in implementing the report’s recommendations.
