This site is a 7.6 acre (5 acres forested, 1 acre scrub-shrub, 1.6 ac emergent) wetland restoration located in the Middle Potomac River - Double Pipe Creek (02-14-03-04) watershed of Carroll County.
In Fall 1999, the Maryland Department of the Environment, in conjunction with the landowner, the Department of Natural Resources, and Morris Environmental restored pasture land back into wetland.
This site has developed into a successful wetland system and provides excellent wetland functions to the landscape. When MDE scored this site in 2009 using the newly developed Mitigation Site Scoring Method, the site received the score of 80/100. This wetland provides many important functions including providing wildlife habitat, furnishing organic matter to the aquatic food web, improving water quality, and proving floodwater storage. This site is located on private property.
