Introduction

This sites consist of two different farms, within the Lower Potomac River portion of Charles county, restored back to forested wetlands.  The first one is 1.6 acres within the Zekiah Swamp (02-14-01-08) watershed and the second one is 2.0 acres within the Gilbert Swamp (02-14-01-07) watershed.     

Construction

The Maryland Department of the Environment, in cooperation with the landowners and Charles Soil Conservation District, constructed these wetlands in Fall 2004.

Status

These sites have established into successful wetland systems and provide valuable wetland functions.  These sites are on private property.
