Maryland's Wetland Restoration Initiative

During the period of explosive growth and intensive land use since the 1940s, Maryland lost approximately 60,000 acres of wetlands. In May of 1997, Maryland announced an initiative to restore, create or enhance 60,000 acres of wetlands.

The success of the wetlands restoration initiative will depend on the efforts of organizations and individuals including landowners, businesses, schools, conservancies and trusts.

If you have completed a wetlands restoration, creation or enhancement project, please complete the Wetlands Restoration Accomplishment Report.

Why is it important to report a restoration project?
