Biennial Hazardous Waste Reports

Biennial Hazardous Waste Reports

CALENDAR YEAR 2016 is a reporting year - DUE MARCH 1, 2018

THIS PAGE WILL BE UPDATED JANUARY 2018

MARYLAND WILL BE USING EASITRAK FOR ELECTRONIC REPORTING

Maryland’s hazardous waste regulations require a Maryland generator of hazardous waste to submit a report of hazardous waste activity for 2015 calendar year if the generator:

  • generated 100 kilograms (220 lbs) or more of hazardous waste or 1 kilogram (2.2) or more of acute hazardous waste in any one month during the odd calendar year; or
  • had on site, at any time during odd calendar year, more than 100 kilograms (220 lbs) of hazardous waste or more than 1 kilogram (2.2).

The Maryland Department of the Environment will be mailing out Biennial Hazardous Waste Report notifications in January.  The packets will include instructions and Maryland-specific information to be used in completing the report.  The mailing will be based on a list compiled from hazardous waste manifest information.  However, failure to receive a report packet does not absolve a generator who meets the reporting criteria of the requirement to file the report.

Note: EPA only requires Large Quantity Generators to report; however, Maryland has more strigent requirements. Maryland requires all generators who generated over 220lbs in any calendar month complete a report.

This report must be completed and submitted to the Maryland Department of the Environment no later than March 1, 2016.

"NEW" Electronic Filing:   The Department encourages generators to submit their 2015 report electronically. The Department has purchased a new internet based database for generators to use.  This database is fee of charge to the generators.

Please go to www.arminc.net and click on Easitrak 2015.  Generators will have to register in order to use the database. Your EPA ID Number is your user name. Please refer to the attached document below titled "Electronic Filing" for more information.

If you choose to report electronically, print and sign the verification and mail to the Department by March 1, 2016.

Report forms will no longer be mailed. Report forms and instructions are available on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) website at 2015-hazardous-waste-report-instructions-and-form. Additional EPA information is availabe at index.htm.  Be sure to follow the Maryland-specific instructions in the Department cover letter for the biennial report mail-out. If you fail to take note of the Maryland-specific instructions, you will not fill out the report correctly.
