Citizen Participation - MDE is committed to assuring public participation and stakeholder involvement in all the Department's activities.

Environmental Justice - This site highlights the activities of the Commission on Environmental Justice and sustainable Communities and the Department towards creating healthy, safe, economically vibrant, environmentally sound communities for all Marylanders in a manner that allows for democratic processes and community involvement.

Environmental Education - MDE’s education programs provide resources for classroom teachers, outdoor educators, club leaders, and others to teach students of all ages about our environment.  Students of all ages gain an understanding of the environmental challenges we face and how MDE meets those challenges.

Environmental Emergencies - Every day in Maryland thousands of individuals work with substances which are potentially harmful to our environment. When proper care fails and accidents happen, the Maryland Department of the Environment's Emergency Response Team is called into action.

Public Information Act (PIA) - The PIA process, which includes an improved internal tracking system, consistent procedures and fee structure agency-wide, includes acceptance of information requests via electronic mail.
