Wastewater Permits Program Training Opportunities

​The Department offers free training opportunities to any party interested in learning more about various aspects of the Wastewater Pollution Prevention and Reclamation Program and the wastewater permits issued by the program.  Please see the sections below for upcomin​g training events specific to each permit type, as well as materials from previously conducted training events.

General Permit For Discharges of Stormwater Associated With Construction Activity
Maryland General Permit No. 20-CP

If you are an operator for a construction project which was registered under the previous 14-GP permit, are an operator for a proposed construction project, o​r prepare permitting documents on behalf of such an operator, you are strongly encouraged to attend.  


Use of Chemical Additives for Sediment Control

The Department maintains a policy for approval of chemical additives (such as flocculants and coagulants) for control of sediments.  This is most applicable to the above 20-CP permit, but may also be applicab​le for other general NPDES permits as well, many of which are included on this training webpage.  While the Department does not currently offer any training events solely dedicated to the chemical additive policy, the links below may be helpful if you intend to apply for and use additives on your site.   


General Permit For Discharges from Stormwater Associated with Industrial Activities
Maryland General Permit No. 20-SW

 If you own or operate a facility​ which was registered under the previous 12-SW permit or which falls into an industrial sector identified in Appendix ​A of the permit as requiring coverage for ​industrial stormwater, you are stron​gly encouraged to attend.

General Permit For Discharges from Swimming Pools & Spas​
Maryland General Permit No. 17-SI

If you own or operate a swimming pool or s​imilar facility​ which was registered under the previous 12-SI permit or which may have a wastewater discharge, you are strongly encoura​ged to attend.  

​General Discharge Permit For Discharges from the Application of Pesticides
Maryland General Permit No. 17-PE

If you are an operator in the pesticide application space or you were previously registered under a toxic materials permit (TMP) and require 17-PE coverage, you are stron​gly encouraged to attend.  ​



General Permit For Discharges from Seafood Processing Facilities
Maryland General Permit No. 21-SE​

If you own or operate a seafood processing facility​ which was registered under the previous 11-SE permit or which may have a wastewater discharge, you are strongly encoura​​ged to attend.
